Great company, with even greater employees. The experience of one individual compared to another individual will not be the same. Overall no company is perfect with its pay compensation/time balance ratio, but they are pretty close. Plenty of skills interwoven in the intricate fabrication of passenger class locomotives and rail cars. Open mind can lead to new skills being learned, and old ones honed.
Cafeteria, Work Schedule, Cultural experience
Long interview/hiring process, bi weekly pay
This company has a communication problems, a few others quit for same reason, so easy to do mistakes, working in the dark leaves you with a unsetling lack of belonging every end of day, you feel like the end is near the whole time, other jobs usually passes along excitement of creating state of the art design, and belonging to a dedicated team, being a important member it mostly missed and wish I had back again.
Nice Hot city, air conditioning, holidays
Little input, Sap
A typical day at work first day you will need to pass six weld test that have been given to you. After doing so you will hit floor and then we be in the process of training in welding carshells if you don't know what your doing they may get frustrated with you. My best advice is to ask as many questions and write down as many notes youcan.
I enjoy working here, coworkers are great, and they take good care of people. But instead of hiring specific shifts they make you switch shifts whenever they want. They bought me equipment, spent time doing adequate training for me, but then switched my shifts. I thought I had found a career, but this company is only good for those who don't have a life outside of work.
Overall a decent company to work for. They invest in the professional development of their employees and provide good benefits. Promotions from within is usually preferred and dependent on connections. a Work hours are flexible and completely discretionary of the employees so long as deadlines are met. Compensation could be improved and more competitive with market.
1. Training is lacking at best 2. Supervisors are cold hearted and militaristic in communication tactics 3. Clocking in and out is a royal pain 4. Day shift hours are for zombies 5am start. 5. Don't forget your safety glasses, you will get laid into excessively around your fellow workmates. Not a pretty sight! Kinda like Marine boot camp! 6. Hot in the summer and cold in the winter. 7. Pay is good for Sacramento but not enough for the work expected.
